Cumming 

Cumming is a suburban city located in Forsyth County, Georgia. It is the sole incorporated city in the county, and it is part of the Atlanta metropolitan area. As of the 2010 census, the city had a population of 5,430, up from 4,200 in 2000. This makes it one of the fastest-growing suburbs in the Atlanta area.  Learn more

The town of Cumming was incorporated in 1833 after two 40-acre land lots were purchased. These lots were part of the Georgia State Land Lottery and were designated Land Lots 1269 and 1270. The town was founded by Forsyth County inferior court justices, who recognized that a local seat of government was needed. The boundaries of the two lots were Tolbert Street, Eastern Circle, Resthaven Street, and School Street. In 1834, a post office was established.

The city of Cumming has a charming downtown area, home to a variety of unique restaurants and small businesses. The town also features the City of Cumming Fairgrounds, which hosts a carnival every October. The carnival-themed events attract crowds from across North Georgia. There are several other events that take place in the city throughout the year.

In addition to being a great place to live, Cumming is also home to a thriving public school system. Many families move to the area in order to give their children the best education possible. The Cumming schools are part of Forsyth County Schools, the 7th largest school system in Georgia. The school system boasts over 6,000 exceptional staff members.

Cumming is located in north-central Georgia, near the southern Appalachian Mountains. The climate is mild year-round, with the coldest months occurring during January. Although Cumming may seem pricey to some, the price of homes is lower than average. Residents also enjoy low crime rates, making the community a great place to raise a family.

In addition to historic places, Cumming offers a range of shopping opportunities and entertainment venues. Cumming is home to some of the best resorts outside of Atlanta. Cumming also offers a number of newer developments that offer luxury living. These new developments offer convenient access to the Atlanta Metropolitan Area, yet offer a sense of privacy and luxury.

Residents of Cumming GA can enjoy the scenic views of Lake Lanier. Lake Lanier is a lake of 37,000 acres that was formed after the Chattahoochee River was dammed in 1956. Cumming is home to several fine dining restaurants and an abundance of shopping opportunities. The city also boasts a large Super Target, with gorgeous cosmetic displays and all the basics for groceries.
