How to Get to the Big Creek Greenway in Alpharetto
The Big Creek Greenway is located in North Fulton, about an hour west of Atlanta and an hour north of Macon. It’s most easily accessible by car. The easiest way to find the trailhead is to use this interactive map. If you’re interested in hiking the trail by foot, you can easily do so using the Georgia State Parks Trail Finder. From the trailhead, most hikers will start by following the paved Big Creek Greenway Trail for about a quarter-mile to a very picturesque point where the trail intersects with the paved Northside Parkway Trail. From there, you can take either path for about a mile to get to the Big Creek Greenway’s first destination, Ginter State Park. To get to the rest of the park’s major destinations, some hikers will continue on the Northside Parkway Trail to the trailhead of the Ginter Park Trail, while others will take the Ginter Park Trail to the Southern section of the park and the Lake Trail. From the Southern section of the park, hikers can continue on the Lake Trail to reach the rest of the Greenway’s major destinations, including the Wolf Lake Overlook, the Wolf Lake and the Ginter Bluff Overlook.
